I went to him and asked, \u201cDid you ever see such a thing transpire during the time of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam)?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He replied, \u201cI seek refuge in Allah Ta\u2018ala! During the era of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), if the breeze grew a little stronger than normal, we would hasten towards the musjids, fearing the coming of the Last Day!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another Sahaabi, Hazrat Abu Dardaa (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), mentions, \u201cWhenever there was a storm, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) would become worried and go to the musjid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, even at the time of the worst of problems, who thinks of going to the musjid? Leave aside the common people, even those who regard themselves as good and practising Muslims do not show importance to practising upon this sunnah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) Did at the Time of a Solar Eclipse (Sun being Blocked by the Moon)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once, during the time of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), an eclipse of the sun occurred.<\/p>\n<p>The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) left their jobs. Even the young boys practising archery hastened towards the musjid to know what Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) would do at that time.<\/p>\n<p>Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) commenced performing two rakaats of Salaatul Kusoof (i.e. salaah at the time of solar eclipse), and these rakaats were so long that some people fainted and fell down.<\/p>\n<p>Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) wept in his salaah and said, \u201cO my Rabb! You have said that You will not punish them as long as I am with them, and so long as they seek Your forgiveness!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This refers to a verse in the Qur\u2019aan Majeed wherein Allah Ta\u2018ala says:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" dir=\"RTL\" style=\"text-align: center; font-family: 'Traditional Arabic'; font-size: 16pt;\">\u0648\u064e \u0645\u064e\u0627 \u06a9\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u0670\u0647 \u0644\u0650\u06cc\u064f\u0639\u064e\u0630\u0651\u0650\u0628\u064e\u0647\u0645\u06e1 \u0648\u064e\u0627\u064e\u0646\u06e1\u062a\u064e \u0641\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u0647\u0645\u06e1 \u0615 \u0648\u064e\u0645\u064e\u0627 \u06a9\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u0670\u0647 \u0645\u064f\u0639\u064e\u0630\u0651\u0650\u0628\u064e\u0647\u0645\u06e1 \u0648\u064e\u0647\u0645\u06e1 \u06cc\u064e\u0633\u06e1\u062a\u064e\u063a\u06e1\u0641\u0650\u0631\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0646\u064e \ufd3f\u06f3\u06f3\ufd3e<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>But Allah would not punish them while you (O Muhammed [sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam]) are with them, nor will He punish them while they seek forgiveness. (Surah Anfaal v. 33)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) then addressed the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) saying, \u201cYou should become concerned and hasten to perform salaah whenever you find the sun or the moon in eclipse. If you know the signs of the Last Day as I do, then surely you would weep more and laugh less.
