\u2018Ataa bin Farrookh (rahimahullah) narrates the following:<\/p>\n

On one occasion, Hazrat \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) purchased a plot of land from a certain person. After purchasing the land, Hazrat \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) waited for the person to come and collect his money. However, the person did not come.<\/p>\n

When Hazrat \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) met the man later on, he asked him, \u201cWhy did you not come to collect your money?\u201d The man replied, \u201cThe reason for me not coming to collect the money is that I felt that you have not paid me a fair price for the land! Every person who I met rebuked me for selling the land to you at this price.\u201d Hazrat \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) asked him, \u201cIs this really the reason for you not coming to collect your money?\u201d The man replied in the affirmative.<\/p>\n

Hazrat \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then addressed him saying, \u201cI give you an option to cancel the sale and take back your land or to leave the sale as is and take your money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat \u2018Uthmaan (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) thereafter explained to him the reason for giving him the option of cancelling the sale or allowing it to continue saying, \u201cRasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) had made du\u2018aa for the person who is lenient when transacting. Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said, \u2018May Allah Ta\u2018ala bless that person with Jannah who adopts a soft and lenient approach with people at the time when he purchases, sells, makes payment or requests payment.\u201d<\/p>\n
