The battle between haq and baatil (truth and falsehood) commenced from the very inception of the creation of man. The moment Allah Ta\u2018ala created Nabi Aadam (\u2018alaihis salaam), his arch enemy, Iblees, began plotting and planning to misguide him and lead him astray.<\/p>\n
After Nabi Aadam and Hazrat Hawwaa (alaihimas salaam) entered the world, this battle between haq and baatil continued to progress, and in every era of human history, the armies of Allah Ta\u2018ala combated the armies of shaitaan. The armies of Allah Ta\u2018ala were the Ambiyaa (\u2018alaihimus salaam) and their followers, and the armies of shaitaan were the disbelievers.<\/p>\n
In the era of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), when the kuffaar saw that Islam was progressing by the day, they looked for different methods and ways to curb the spread of Islam.<\/p>\n
Among the methods they adopted was that they came to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and presented various proposals to him.<\/p>\n
The Proposals of the Kuffaar to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam)<\/strong><\/p>\n The kuffaar said to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), \u201cO Muhammed! We shall give you abundant wealth and make you the richest man in Makkah Mukarramah, we shall get you married to whichever woman you desire, and we shall make you our undisputed leader \u2013 on condition that you do not speak ill of our gods (idols).<\/p>\n \u201cIf you do not agree to this, then we propose that you worship our gods for one year, and we shall worship your Allah for the next year. In this way, we will be able to reconcile our differences, and if the religion which you are inviting us towards contains goodness, then we will have a share in it, and if the religion which we are inviting you towards contains goodness, then you will have a share in it.\u201d<\/p>\n In some reports, it is mentioned that they also said, \u201cYou should at least pass your hand over our idols to show some type of consideration to our religion. And neither am I going to worship that (idols) which you worship, and nor will you worship the One whom I worship (Allah Ta\u2018ala). For you is your religion and for me is my religion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The Open Declaration of this Surah<\/strong><\/p>\n In this surah, Allah Ta\u2018ala forbade Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) from accepting any of the \u00a0proposals of the kuffaar, and commanded him to declare pure tauheed \u2013 the oneness of Allah Ta\u2018ala \u2013 and to remain firm upon the pure and pristine religion of Islam without compromising in any way.<\/p>\n The reason for Allah Ta\u2018ala prohibiting Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and the ummah from accepting the proposals of the kuffaar is that the deen of Islam is a pure, perfect, complete and comprehensive deen that is based on the principles of tawheed (oneness of Allah Ta\u2018ala) and obedience to the command of Allah Ta\u2018ala alone.<\/p>\n Hence, this deen can never be joined with any other religion, as every other religion besides Islam is based on kufr, shirk and following a path against the obedience of Allah Ta\u2018ala, whereas the deen of Islam is based on purity, tawheed (the oneness of Allah Ta\u2018ala) and complete obedience to Allah Ta\u2018ala alone.<\/p>\n In essence, when this surah is an open declaration that Islam cannot be joined or mixed with the religion of the kuffaar in any way, then it is not permissible for a believer to participate in interfaith gatherings wherein shirk and kufr practices take place, shirk and kufr prayers are held, and each participant speaks highly of his religion and promotes shirk and kufr.<\/p>\n The Command of Allah Ta\u2018ala in the Qur\u2019aan Majeed <\/strong><\/p>\n Through one participating in an interfaith gathering which is a gathering on kufr and shirk, one will be going against the command of Allah Ta\u2018ala in the Qur\u2019aan Majeed.<\/p>\n In the Qur\u2019aan Majeed, Allah Ta\u2018ala commands the believers:<\/p>\n \u0627\u0650\u0630\u064e\u0627 \u0633\u064e\u0645\u0650\u0639\u06e1\u062a\u064f\u0645\u06e1 \u0627\u0670\u06cc\u0670\u062a\u0650 \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u0670\u06c1\u0650 \u06cc\u064f\u06a9\u06e1\u0641\u064e\u0631\u064f \u0628\u0650\u06c1\u064e\u0627 \u0648\u064e \u06cc\u064f\u0633\u06e1\u062a\u064e\u06c1\u06e1\u0632\u064e\u0627\u064f \u0628\u0650\u06c1\u064e\u0627 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0627 \u062a\u064e\u0642\u06e1\u0639\u064f\u062f\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0627 \u0645\u064e\u0639\u064e\u06c1\u064f\u0645\u06e1 \u062d\u064e\u062a\u0651\u0670\u06cc \u06cc\u064e\u062e\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0636\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0627 \u0641\u0650\u06cc\u06e1 \u062d\u064e\u062f\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u062b\u064d \u063a\u064e\u06cc\u06e1\u0631\u0650\u06c1\u06e4\u0656\u00a0 \u06eb\u06d6 \u0627\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e\u06a9\u064f\u0645\u06e1\u00a0 \u0627\u0650\u0630\u064b\u0627 \u0645\u0651\u0650\u062b\u06e1\u0644\u064f\u06c1\u064f\u0645\u06e1 \u0615 \u0627\u0650\u0646\u0651\u064e \u0627\u0644\u0644\u0651\u0670\u06c1\u064e \u062c\u064e\u0627\u0645\u0650\u0639\u064f \u0627\u0644\u06e1\u0645\u064f\u0646\u0670\u0641\u0650\u0642\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u0646\u064e \u0648\u064e \u0627\u0644\u06e1\u06a9\u0670\u0641\u0650\u0631\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u0646\u064e \u0641\u0650\u06cc\u06e1 \u062c\u064e\u06c1\u064e\u0646\u0651\u064e\u0645\u064e \u062c\u064e\u0645\u0650\u06cc\u06e1\u0639\u064e\u06e8\u0627 \ufd3f\u06f1\u06f4\u06f0\ufd3e\u06d9<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you hear the verses of Allah being rejected and ridiculed, then you should not sit with such people, unless they enter into some other discourse. (If you sit with them, then) you, in that case, will be like them. Surely, Allah will gather all the hypocrites and disbelievers together in Jahannam.\u201d (Surah Nisaa v. 140)<\/em><\/p>\n It is obvious that in an interfaith gathering, when the pastor, pundit, etc. will speak highly about their religion or engage in prayer to their idols, etc., they will be committing shirk and kufr and opposing Islam.<\/p>\n Through showing consideration to the kuffaar and being tolerant at that time by participating in the gathering, one will be breaking the command of Allah Ta\u2018ala mentioned in this verse. The Fuqahaa mention that there is great danger and fear of such a person losing his imaan through participating in these gatherings.<\/p>\n
