Hazrat Ali\u2019s (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) Valour in Uhud<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the Battle of Uhud, the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) were attacked by the kuffaar and many were killed. Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was surrounded by the enemy and sustained several injuries. At that time, the rumour began to spread that Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) had been killed. Hearing this false rumour, Most of the Sahabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) lost their composure and were overcome by grief and panic.<\/p>\n

Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) says: \u201cWe were surrounded by the enemy, and I could not see Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). I first searched for him among the living and then among the dead, but I could not find him. I said to myself, \u2018It is impossible for him to flee from the battle-field. It seems that Allah is angry with us due to our sins, and He has raised him up to the heavens. There is nothing better for me than to throw myself into the enemy lines and fight until I am killed.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI therefore attacked the enemy, until they began dispersing. Thereafter my sight had fallen on Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) in the battlefield. On seeing him, I was overcome with happiness and I understood that Allah had been protecting him through His angels. I approached him and stood by his side. Just then, a group of the enemy advanced to attack the Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said to me, \u2018O Ali, go and repel them!\u2019 I fought and repulsed them single-handed, killing some of them. After this, yet another group came to attack him. He again called out, \u2018O Ali, go and repel them!\u2019 I fought that group again, single-handed, until I repulsed them, causing them to flee.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was on this occasion that Hazrat Jibrail (\u2018alaihis salaam) came to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and praised Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) for his valour and devotion to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said:<\/p>\n

\u201cAli is part of me and I am part of him (i.e. we are from the same family and our bond of brotherhood is extremely close).\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

At this, Hazrat Jibrail (\u2018alaihis salaam) remarked:<\/p>\n

Look at the valour of Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu)! At the time when Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) instructed him to repel the enemy, he threw himself into the enemy lines and fought single-handed with such valour in order to prevent the enemy from harming Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). This shows his extreme love and devotion to Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).<\/p>\n
