One night, during the period of his khilaafah, Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), was on his security patrol when he saw a light and heard a sound coming from a certain home. He found an old lady in it spinning wool and singing the following couplets:<\/p>\n

\u201cMay the pious continue to send salutations upon Muhammad (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam)! May the best and most select of Allah Ta\u2018ala\u2019s servants recite durood upon you (O Muhammad (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam))!<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cO Messenger of Allah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), you stood in worship each night, and you wept (in dua for the ummah) before the dawning of each day.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIf only I knew whether I will be united with my beloved (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) in the Hereafter, for death comes in different states, and I do not know how I shall die.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
