Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) thus turned to one of his two sons, either Hazrat Hasan or Hazrat Husain (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma), and said, \u201cGo to your mother and tell her that I said, \u2018I left six dirhams with you, so send one dirham from the six.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The son thus went home to his mother, Hazrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha), and conveyed his father\u2019s message, but on returning, he did not have the dirham with him. He said to his father, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), \u201cMy mother said that you had left the six dirhams for purchasing flour.\u201d Hearing this, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) said, \u201cA servant\u2019s imaan will not become true and perfect until he has more reliance on that which is in the hand of Allah Ta\u2018ala compared to what he possesses (i.e. his reliance upon Allah Ta\u2018ala being the One who fulfills his need should be more than the reliance he has upon his wealth being the means to fulfill his need).\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"itemFullText\">\n<p>Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then said to his son, \u201cGo to your mother, and tell her to send all six dirhams.\u201d He thus went to his mother and then returned with the six dirhams which Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) handed to the beggar.<\/p>\n<p>Barely a moment later, as Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) began to sit, a man passed by with a camel which he was selling. Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) asked him, \u201cHow much are you selling the camel for?\u201d The man replied, \u201cI am selling it for one hundred and forty dirhams.\u201d Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then purchased the camel from him. After purchasing the camel, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) said, \u201cTie the camel here, and we will pay you later.\u201d The man thus tied the camel and departed.<\/p>\n<p>Thereafter, another man passed by, and on seeing the camel, he asked, \u201cWho does this camel belong to?\u201d Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cIt belongs to me.\u201d The man asked, \u201cAre you selling it?\u201d When Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied that he was selling it, the man asked, \u201cHow much are you selling it for?\u201d Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) responded, \u201cI am selling it for two hundred dirhams.\u201d The man was satisfied with the price and thus accepted the offer and concluded the sale saying, \u201cI have bought it from you.\u201d He then handed the two hundred dirhams to Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), took his camel and departed.<\/p>\n<p>Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then went to the man who had sold him the camel and paid him the one hundred and forty dirhams which he owed him. Thereafter, he returned home to his respected wife, Hazrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha), with the sixty dirhams that he had made as profit.<\/p>\n<p>When Hazrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) saw the sixty dirhams, she asked him, \u201cWhat is this? Where did this money come from?\u201d Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cThis is what Allah Ta\u2018ala has promised us, through the following words revealed upon the blessed tongue of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then recited the following verse of the Qur\u2019aan Majeed:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" dir=\"RTL\" style=\"text-align: center; font-family: 'Traditional Arabic'; font-size: 16pt; line-height: 38px;\">\u0645\u064e\u0646\u06e1 \u062c\u064e\u0627\u0653\u0621\u064e \u0628\u0650\u0627\u0644\u06e1\u062d\u064e\u0633\u064e\u0646\u064e\u0629\u0650 \u0641\u064e\u0644\u064e\u0647\u064f \u0639\u064e\u0634\u06e1\u0631\u064f \u0627\u064e\u0645\u06e1\u062b\u064e\u0627\u0644\u0650\u0647\u064e\u0627<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The one who comes with a good deed, he will receive ten times as much (Surah An\u2019aam v. 160)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In other words, Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) explained to Hazrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) that when he spent six dirhams in sadaqah, then Allah Ta\u2018ala replaced it with ten times more, and hence he now had sixty dirhams.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Hayaat-us-Sahaabah 2\/191)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is reported that on one occasion, a beggar came to Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) and asked him for some money.
