Every believer has love in his heart for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), and love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) is among the dictates and demands of imaan. However, from the entire ummah, the people who had the greatest and deepest love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) were the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum).<\/p>\n

Hence, they were prepared to sacrifice their wealth, homes and even their lives for the sake of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). Such was their love for Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) that they could tolerate being tortured and killed, but they could not tolerate even a thorn pricking the blessed body of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

When this was the extent of their love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), then one can well imagine the extent of the grief and sorrow which they experienced over his demise and departure from this world!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was extremely close to Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and being his cousin and son-in-law caused the relationship to be even closer and more special. Hence, we can try and imagine the extent of grief which he underwent at the time when Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) passed away!<\/p>\n

It is reported that on one occasion, after the demise of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) came to the gathering of Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu). As he joined the gathering, the people saw that he was wearing a shawl that was covering his head and face, and he appeared to be extremely grieved and sad.<\/p>\n

When Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) saw him in this state, he was immediately concerned and asked him, \u201cI notice that you are sad! What is the matter?\u201d Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cI am carrying such a great burden of grief which perhaps you will not understand!\u201d<\/p>\n

Hearing this, Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) addressed the people in the gathering and said, \u201cLook at what he is saying (regarding the grief he is experiencing over the demise of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam))! I ask you in the name of Allah Ta\u2018ala \u2013 tell me, do you think that anyone can be more grieved and affected by the demise of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) than me?\u201d\u00a0(Tabaqaat Ibnu Sa\u2019d 2\/238)<\/em><\/p>\n

In other words, despite Hazrat Ali\u2019s (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) grief being so great, it could not compare to the grief of Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), as from all the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum), he possessed the greatest love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and enjoyed the closest relationship with Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).<\/p>\n

From this incident, we see the deep love which the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhum) had for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). May Allah Ta\u2018ala bless us all with true love for Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
