The injunction of Taqleed<\/em> is established through many verses of the Qur\u2019an. By way of example, a few verses will be cited below:<\/p>\n

\"Ayah_57_15\"<\/a>Follow the path of those who turn to Me [Allah Ta’ala] <\/em>(<\/em>Surah Luqman 31:15)<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Ayah_16_43\"<\/a>Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. <\/em>(<\/em>Surah An-Nahl 16:43)<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Ayah_4_59\"<\/a><\/em>O you who believe obey Allah, the Rasul and the people of authority amongst you. <\/em>(<\/em>Surah Nisa 4:59<\/em> <\/em>)<\/em><\/p>\n

\n

The Mufassireen<\/em> (the likes of Abu Bakr Jassaas, Allama Aaloosi and Imaam Raazi) commentate that \u201culil amr<\/em>\u201d in this verse refers to the Ulama<\/em> and the Fuqahaa<\/em> of the ummat<\/em>. Hence, the compulsion of Taqleed<\/em> is established from this verse.<\/p>\n

The renowned Aalim<\/em> of the Ahle Hadith<\/em> (those who claim to be following the hadeeth), Nawaab Siddique Hasan confirms the above commentary in his kitaab Al-Junnah<\/em> [1]<\/sup><\/a> thus saying:<\/p>\n

\"fataawa_darulum\"<\/a><\/p>\n

According to Ibn Abbaas, Jaabir (Radiyallahu Anhuma), Hassan, Abul Aaliyah, Ataa\u2019, Dahaak, Mujaahid and Imaam Ahmad (Rahmatullahi Alayhim) <\/em>\u201culil amr<\/em>\u201d in this verse refers to the Ulama.<\/em><\/p>\n

Nawaab Siddique Hasan further states that if this verse is with reference to the Islamic Rulers, then too taqleed of the Ulama<\/em> cannot be disproven. The reason being that obedience to the rulers is subject to the approval of the Ulama<\/em>, as the rulings of the Ulama<\/em> are subject to being in conformity with the teachings of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)<\/em>.<\/p>\n
