After entering the home, she walked past Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) and accidentally stumbled over an inkpot which was placed near him.<\/p>\n<p>Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) addressed her saying, \u201cWhy do you not look when walking?\u201d Hearing this, she retorted, \u201cWhen there is no place to walk then how am I supposed to walk?\u201d As soon as she said this, Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) said to her, \u201cYou may go, for I have set you free.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"itemFullText\">\n<p>Later on, when Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) was asked why he had set the slave girl free when she angered him, he replied, \u201cIf she angered me, then I brought happiness to my heart through my action of setting her free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, instead of Imaam Bukhaari (rahimahullah) responding with harshness, he emulated the blessed Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) of showing kindness and good character to the one who shows bad character.
