Hazrat Dimaad bin Tha\u2019labah Azdi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was a close friend of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) from the pre-Islamic era of ignorance. He would recite different invocations and blow on people as a form of treatment.<\/p>\n

When he came to Makkah Mukarramah after Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was bestowed with prophethood, he saw a group of boys following Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). Some were calling him a sorcerer and fortune teller while others called him insane and a madman. Hazrat Dimaad (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) appeared before Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and said, \u201cI know how to treat insanity. Give me permission to treat you, and perhaps Allah Ta\u2018ala will cure you at my hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) replied by reciting the following khutbah:<\/p>\n

All praise is due to Allah! We praise Him, ask Him for assistance and beg His forgiveness. We seek the refuge of Allah from the evils of our base desires. He whom Allah guides, none can lead him astray, and he whom Allah leads astray, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah who is alone and has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammed (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) is His slave and messenger.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hazrat Dimaad (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) relates:<\/p>\n

I requested Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) to repeat his words again. By Allah! I had heard abundant poetry and many incantations of fortune-tellers, but by Allah, never before had I heard such words. These words are submerged in the depths of the ocean of eloquence. I immediately embrace Islam and I also declare that I bear testimony that there is none worthy of worship but Allah who is alone and has no partner and I bear witness that Nabi Muhammed (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) is His slave and messenger.<\/p>\n

In this manner, Hazrat Dimaad (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) embraced Islam, and he also pledged allegiance at the hands of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) on behalf of his people.<\/p>\n
