Hazrat \u2018Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) narrates:<\/p>\n

On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was performing salaah in the Haram while Abu Jahl and his friends were also present. Abu Jahl addressed his friends and asked, \u201cIs there no one among you who will go and fetch the intestines of such-and-such camel and place it on Muhammed\u2019s back as he goes into sajdah?\u201d<\/p>\n

The most wretched of them all, at that time, was \u2018Uqbah bin Abi Mu\u2018ait. He rose, fetched the intestines and dumped it on the back of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) while he was in sajdah.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hazrat \u2018Abdullah bin Mas\u2018ood (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) mentions:<\/p>\n

I was witnessing this entire scene, but there was nothing that I could do. As for the disbelievers, they were looking at one another and laughing, to such an extent that they were actually falling on one another.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Hazrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha), who was merely four or five years old at that time, came running to her father and pushed the intestines from his back. Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) raised his head from sajdah and invoked the curse of Allah Ta\u2018ala upon the Quraish three times.<\/p>\n

The Quraish were very worried and disturbed by the curse of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), as they believed that du\u2018aas are readily accepted in the city of Makkah Mukarramah. Thereafter, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) specifically cursed Abu Jahl, \u2018Uqbah bin Rabee\u2018ah, Shaibah bin Rabee\u2018ah, Waleed bin \u2018Utbah, Umayyah bin Khalaf, \u2018Uqbah bin Abi Mu\u2018ait and \u2018Umaarah bin Waleed. He cursed each person by name, and most of these individuals were killed in the Battle of Badr.<\/p>\n

It was after this incident that the following verse pertaining to the purity of clothing in salaah was revealed, \u201cAnd purify your clothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat \u2018Aa\u2019ishah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) said, \u201cI used to live between two of the most evil neighbours; Abu Lahab and \u2018Uqbah bin Abi Mu\u2018ait. They would both bring filth and dirt and cast it down at my door.\u201d<\/p>\n
