Hazrat \u2018Urwah bin Zubair (rahimahullah) says, \u201cOn one occasion, I asked Hazrat \u2018Abdullah bin \u2018Amr bin \u2018Aas (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) to relate to me the manner in which the disbelievers would persecute Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).<\/p>\n

\u201cHazrat \u2018Abdullah bin \u2018Amr bin \u2018Aas (radhiyallahu \u2018anhuma) replied, \u2018One day, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) was engaged in salaah in the Hateem area when \u2018Uqbah bin Abi Mu\u2018ait threw a cloth over the neck of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and pulled it so tightly that he almost strangled him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) then arrived, pushed \u2018Uqbah aside and recited the following verse:<\/p>\n

Are you killing a man because he says, \u201cMy Lord is only Allah\u201d, and he has brought to you clear proofs from your Lord? (Surah Mu\u2019min v. 28)<\/em><\/p>\n

When Fir\u2018aun and Haamaan conspired and decided to kill Nabi Musa (\u2018alaihis salaam), one of Fir\u2018aun\u2019s people who had secretly brought Imaan in Nabi Musa (\u2018alaihis salaam) exclaimed, \u201cAre you killing a person merely because he declares, \u2018My Lord is Allah\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

Allah Ta\u2018ala recounts this incident in Surah Mu\u2019min as follows:<\/p>\n

A believing man from the people of Fir\u2018aun who was concealing his Imaan said, \u201cDo you wish to kill a man simply because he says, \u2018My Lord is Allah\u2019?\u201d (Surah Mu\u2019min v. 28)<\/em><\/p>\n
