The First Youngster to Accept Islam<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are different narrations reported regarding which person was blessed to be the first to accept Islam at the blessed hand of Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).<\/p>\n

According to some narrations, Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was the first to accept Islam, while other narrations mention that Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was the first, and yet other narrations mention that Hazrat Khadeejah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) was the first to accept Islam.\u00a0(Usdul Ghaabah 3\/283-284)<\/em><\/p>\n

The Ulamaa have reconciled between these narrations by explaining that Hazrat Khadeejah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) was the first woman to accept Islam, and she preceded Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), and everyone else in accepting Islam.<\/p>\n

As for Hazrat Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), then he was the first of the free-men to accept Islam. As far as Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) is concerned, then he was the first youngster to accept Islam. From the freed slaves, Hazrat Zaid bin Haarithah (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was the first to accept Islam.\u00a0(Al-Bidaayah Wan-Nihaayah 4\/73)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Performing Salaah with Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam)<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the time of salaah would arrive, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) would go out of Makkah to the valleys with Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) to perform salaah. Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) would go in secret, hiding from his father, Abu Taalib, as well as his uncles and the people of Makkah Mukarramah. In this manner, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) and Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) would perform salaah together in the valleys, and in the evening, they would return to Makkah. (This was in the beginning of Islam, before the five daily salaah became fardh.)<\/p>\n

Thereafter, on one occasion, Abu Taalib came across them while they were performing salaah in a valley. Observing them performing salaah, he asked Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), \u201cO my nephew! What is this deen that you are following?\u201d Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) replied, \u201cO my uncle! This is the deen of Allah Ta\u2018ala, the deen of His angels, the deen of all his Prophets (\u2018alaihimus salaam), and the deen of our forefather, Nabi Ebrahim (\u2018alaihis salaam). Allah Ta\u2018ala has sent me with this deen as a Rasul (messenger) to his servants. You, O my uncle, from all the people, have the greatest right over me so that I should wish well for you and invite you towards true guidance, and you are the most deserving of accepting my invitation and assisting me in my mission.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abu Taalib responded, \u201cO my nephew! I cannot leave the religion of my forefathers and their creed. However, by Allah, so long as I am alive, I will protect you and ensure that nothing harmful befalls you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abu Taalib then turned to his son, Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu), and asked, \u201cO my son! What is this deen that you are following?\u201d Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) responded, \u201cO my father! I have brought imaan in Allah and the Rasul of Allah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). I have accepted the message he has brought, I perform salaah with him and I follow his teachings.\u201d<\/p>\n

To this, Abu Taalib responded, \u201cHe has invited you towards pure goodness, so ensure that you remain firmly attached to him.\u201d\u00a0(Seerah Ibnu Hishaam 1\/246-247)<\/em><\/p>\n

Hazrat \u2018Afeef Kindi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) Observing Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam) Perform Salaah with Hazrat Khadijah (radhiyallahu \u2018anha) and Hazrat \u2018Ali (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hazrat \u2018Afeef Kindi (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) reports the following incident:<\/p>\n

I was a businessman by trade, and on one occasion, I came to Mina during the days of haj. Hazrat \u2018Abbaas (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) was also a businessman, so I came to him to conduct some trade. While we were seated together in Mina, a man emerged from one of the tents, stood and commenced performing salaah while facing the qiblah. Thereafter, a woman emerged and also stood, performing salaah. Then, a young boy came and also began to perform salaah with them.<\/p>\n

Observing this, I enquired, \u201cO \u2018Abbaas! What is this deen which they are following? We are not familiar with this deen!\u201d Hazrat \u2018Abbaas (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) replied, \u201cThis man is Muhammed (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam), the son of \u2018Abdullah. He claims that Allah Ta\u2018ala has sent him as His Rasul and prophet, and that the kingdom of Ceasar and Chosroes (the Roman and Persian rulers) will be conquered and their treasures will come into his possession. This woman is his respected wife, Hazrat Khadeejah bint Khuwailid (radhiyallahu \u2018anha). She has brought imaan in him and accepted his deen. This young boy is the cousin of Muhammed (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam). His name is \u2018Ali bin Abi Taalib (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu). He has also brought imaan in him and accepted his deen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hazrat \u2018Afeef (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) had accepted Islam later on. Hence, after narrating this incident, Hazrat \u2018Afeef (radhiyallahu \u2018anhu) remarked, \u201cIf only I had accepted Islam on that day, then I could have been the next person, after them, to follow Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi wasallam).\u201d\u00a0(Al-Bidaayah Wan-Nihaayah 4\/62-63)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
