Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (rahmatullahi \u2018alaih) once mentioned:\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

People have become very brazen and bold in committing sins, and these sins thereafter result in various spiritual illnesses. Through committing sins, the heart continues to lose its noor and lustre and the darkness within it increases.<\/p>\n

Sins, in their very nature, contain darkness, and create the effect of darkness within a person\u2019s life as well. In one Hadith, Rasulullah (sallallahu \u2018alaihi salam) mentioned that when a person commits a sin, a black stain of darkness appears on his heart. If he sincerely repents to Allah Ta\u2018ala for committing the sin, then Allah Ta\u2018ala removes the stain of darkness from his heart. However, if he persists in committing the sin, then the black stain of darkness begins to spread, until it eventually engulfs his entire heart. (Sunan Tirmizi #3334)<\/em><\/p>\n

In regard to this black stain of darkness that settles in the heart, Allah Ta\u2018ala mentions in the Qur\u2019aan Majeed:<\/p>\n

\u06a9\u064e\u0644\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u0628\u064e\u0644\u06e1 \u0631\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064e \u0639\u064e\u0644\u0670\u06cc \u0642\u064f\u0644\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0628\u0650\u0647\u0645\u06e1 \u0645\u0651\u064e\u0627 \u06a9\u064e\u0627\u0646\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0627 \u06cc\u064e\u06a9\u06e1\u0633\u0650\u0628\u064f\u0648\u06e1\u0646\u064e<\/span><\/p>\n

No! Rather, the stain of that which they earn (through committing sins) has covered their hearts. (Surah Mutaffifeen v. 14)<\/em><\/p>\n

Moulana then quoted the following poetry:<\/p>\n

Every sin forms a black stain of darkness on the surface of the heart, due to which the heart becomes disgraced.<\/em><\/p>\n

When the darkness in the heart increases due to the black stain increasing, then the uneasiness and confusion within this wretched soul increases (i.e. he remains restless and unhappy).<\/em><\/p>\n
