When I ascended the second step, he said, ‘Woe to him before whom your name is mentioned, yet he does not send Durood upon you.’ I said aameen to this dua. When I ascended the third step, he said, “Woe to him in whose presence both of his parents or one of them attain old age, yet (due to not serving them,) they do not become the means for him to enter Jannah. I said aameen to this dua.”

The Experience of Shaikh Abul Khair Aqta’ (rahimahullah)

Shaikh Abul Khair Aqta’ (rahimahullah) says:

When I came to Madinah Tayyibah and had spent five days there, I experienced poverty and difficulty. I therefore went to the mubaarak grave of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and greeted him, and also to the graves of Abu Bakr and Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma). I then said to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), today I want to be your guest.”

Thereafter, I left that spot and went to sleep behind the mimbar. In a dream, I had seen Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with Abu Bakr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) on his right, and Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) on his left, and Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) in front of him. Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) came to me and said, “Rise up, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has come.” I hastily rose from my resting place and kissed Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) between his eyes. He gave me some bread, from which I ate one half and kept the other half. When I awoke from the dream, the other half of the bread was still in my hand. (Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 338)

Dua to be Recited after Azaan https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6392 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6392#respond Thu, 01 May 2014 04:45:22 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6392

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whichever Muslim hears the azaan being called out, and replies to the takbeer of the muazzin by reciting takbeer, and replies to the shahaadat of the muazzin by reciting shahaadat, and thereafter he recites the following dua, he will be granted the intercession of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) on the day of Qiyaamah:

اللهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ , وَاجْعَلْ فِي عِلِّيِّينَ دَرَجَتَهُ وَفِي الْمُصْطَفَينَ مَحَبَّتَهُ وَفِي الْمُقَرَّبِينَ دَارَهُ

O Allah Ta‘ala, bless Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) with waseelah (the right of interceding for the entire creation on the day of Qiyaamah), and elevate his stage to the highest stage in illiyeen (in Paradise), and bless the hearts of Your chosen servants with his special love, and bless the extremely pious of Your servants with his companionship in the Hereafter.

The Barakah of Durood

The following story is related in “Nuzha”, “There was once a pious person who had fallen seriously ill due to not being able to pass urine. One night he had a dream that he was complaining to Shaikh Shahaabuddeen bin Raslaan (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) (who was a very famous saint and scholar) about the difficulty he was going through. In the dream, the sheikh told him, “How is it that you are ignorant of the cure for all diseases? Commence reciting Durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and Allah Ta’ala will bless you with shifaa. The sheikh then told him to recite the following durood:

O Allah, from all souls (You have created), bestow Your special mercy, peace and blessings on the mubaarak soul of Hadhrat Sayyiduna Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and from all the hearts (You have created), bestow Your special mercy and peace on the heart of Hadhrat Sayyiduna Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and from all the bodies (You have created), bestow Your special mercy and peace upon the body of Hadhrat Sayyiduna Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and from all the graves (of the creation), bestow Your special mercy and peace upon the grave of Hadhrat Sayyiduna Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

Upon awakening, the man continued reciting this durood, and very soon his illness had disappeared. (Fazaail Durood)

Writing Durood when writing the Blessed name of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6360 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6360#respond Thu, 24 Apr 2014 13:49:16 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6360

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever sends Durood upon me through writing the Durood in a kitaab, the angels continue seeking forgiveness on his behalf as long as my name remains in that kitaab.”

Happiness of Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)

Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) once said to Hazrat Abbaas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)[the uncle of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)], “I was more pleased with your Islam than the Islam of my father, for your Islam gave more pleasure to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) than the Islam of my father.” (Sharhu Ma’anil Aathaar 3/321)

An Incident of a Face Changing Colour

In Ihyaa Uloomiddeen, Imaam Ghazaali (rahimahullah) relates this incident as narrated by Abdul Waahid bin Zaid Basri (rahimahullah) who says:

I once went on a journey to perform hajj. With me, a certain person travelled as my companion. All the time, whether walking, sitting or standing, he continued to recite Durood upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). I therefore asked him the reason for his abundant recitation of Durood. He replied:

When I performed my first hajj, my father accompanied me. On our return, we reached one of the resting places and slept there. While we were there, I had seen a dream in which someone was telling me, “Wake up, your father has passed away and his face has turned black.” I awoke in great distress, and when I removed the cloth from the face of my father, I discovered that he had indeed passed away and that his face was turning black. This filled me with great sorrow and I was overcome with fear.

I fell asleep and again dreamt that four dark skinned men with iron rods, about to torment him, were sitting by his head. At that point, a handsome man dressed in two green sheets passed by and chased these four men away. He then stroked the face of my father with his hands and said to me, “Rise up (and rejoice), for Allah Ta’ala has changed the colour of your father’s face. It is now white.” I said to him in great joy and happiness, “May my father and mother be sacrificed for you, who are you?” He replied, “My name is Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).” Since then, I never stopped reciting Durood upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). (Ihyaau Uloomid Deen 4/507)

Leaving out an Action Leading One to Jannah https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6337 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6337#respond Thu, 17 Apr 2014 16:48:28 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=6337

Hazrat Husain bin ‘Ali (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The one in whose presence my name is mentioned, and he does not send salutations upon me, he has left out an action which leads to Jannah.”

A Means of Earning the Intercession of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

Hazrat Qutb Al-Halabi (rahimahullah) mentions:

I once met Abu Ishaaq, Ebrahim bin Ali bin Atiyyah At-Taleedami (rahimahullah). He said to me, “I was blessed with the mubaarak vision of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in a dream. On seeing him, I said to him, ‘O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! I request you to intercede for me on the day of Qiyaamah!’ Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, ‘Recite abundant Durood upon me.’” (Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 267)

The Incident of Hazrat Ebrahim bin Khawaas (rahimahullah)

It is reported from “Nuzhatul Basaateen” that Hazrat Ebrahim bin Khawaas (rahimahullah) says:

Once, while on a journey, I felt such extreme thirst that I fell down unconscious. While I lay there, I felt someone sprinkling water on my face. When I opened my eyes, I saw a handsome young man on horseback near me. He gave me water to drink and begged me to accompany him. After having travelled for a little while, he asked me, “What do you see?” I replied, “This is Madinah Tayyibah.” He then said, “You may descend here. Go to the mubaarak grave of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and convey to him my salaams. Tell him that his brother, Khidar, has conveyed salaams to him.” (Fazaail-e-Durood Pg. 187)

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Do not make your homes into graveyards (i.e. Recite Qur’an and perform salaah in your home so that the home does not be a place void of Aa’maal as is the case of the graveyard), and do not make my grave a place of festivity, and recite durood upon me, for certainly your durood reaches me (via the angels) from wherever you may be.

Saved from the Discomfort of Death due to Abundant Durood

In “Nuzhatul Majaalis”, the following incident is related:

Once, a man went to visit a seriously ill person at the time when he was in the throes of death. He asked the sick man, “How do you find the bitter pangs of death at this moment of departure?” He replied, “I do not feel any discomfort at all. I heard the Ulama mention that the one who recites abundant Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) will find himself safe from the discomfort of death at the moment of passing away.” (Fazaail-e-Durood Pg. 181)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports: “When any one of you wishes to supplicate before Allah Ta’ala in duaa, then begin by first glorifying Allah Ta’ala and praising Him with praises that are befitting His majesty and honour, then recite durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and thereafter ask of Allah Ta’ala (whatever you desire). Certainly (by following this method of making duaa), one will be successful in getting his duaa answered.

Salvation through the Abundant Recitation of Durood

A person once saw Abu Hafs Al-Kaaghazi (rahimahullah), who was a very pious person, in a dream after his demise. On seeing Abu Hafs (rahimahullah), he asked him, “How did Allah Ta’ala deal with you?” Abu Hafs (rahimahullah) replied, “Allah Ta’ala had mercy on me, forgave me and admitted me into Jannah.” When Abu Hafs (rahimahullah) was asked the reason for him being honoured and blessed in this manner, he said, “When I stood before Allah Ta’ala, He commanded the angels to commence counting my deeds. They thus counted my sins and counted my Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), and found that my Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) outnumbered my sins. Allah Ta’ala then said to the angels, ‘O My angels! This is sufficient! Do not take him to account for his sins and enter him into my Jannah!’” (Al Qowl-ul-Badee pg. 259)

Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites Durood upon me one hundred times daily, Allah Ta’ala will fulfil one hundred of his needs, seventy of the Hereafter and thirty of this world.”

The Five Durood of Imaam Shaafi’ee (Rahmatullahi Alaihi)

It is mentioned that after the demise of Imaam Shaafi’ee (Rahmatullahi Alaihi), someone had seen him in a dream and asked him how Allah Ta’ala had dealt with him. Imaam Shaafi’ee (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) replied that he had been pardoned by Allah Ta’ala. When asked the reason, Imaam Shaafi’ee (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) said: “I was pardoned on account of the five durood which I used to recite upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) every Friday night (i.e. the night preceding Friday)”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Recite Durood upon me, for certainly it is a form of purification for you. Ask Allah Ta‘ala to grant me the position of “waseelah”, which is a rank in the highest stages of Paradise that is reserved for only one person, and I hope that I am the one who is blessed with this honour and position.”

Face Transformed to a Swine

In Nuzhatul Majaalis, the following incident is recorded:

A man and his son were on a journey. On the way, the father passed away and his face was transformed to that of a swine. The son, seeing this, cried bitterly and made dua to Allah Ta’ala for the welfare of his father.

The son soon fell asleep and saw a man telling him, “Your father used to consume interest, and it is for this reason that you now see his face in this condition. But rejoice, for Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has interceded on his behalf, for whenever he heard the blessed name of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), he recited Durood upon him. Through the intercession of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), his face has now been restored to its original form.”  (Nuzahatul Majaalis 2/82)

Hazrat Husain (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The real miser is the one in whose presence my name is mentioned, yet he does not recite Durood upon me.”

Reciting One Thousand Durood Daily

Abul Hasan Baghdaadi Ad-Daarimi (rahimahullah) says:

I had often seen Abu Abdillah Haamid (rahimahullah) in a dream after his death. I asked him what had transpired with him and he said, “Allah Ta‘ala forgave me and had mercy on me.” I then asked him, “Please inform me of one such deed, which will admit me directly into Paradise.” He replied, “Perform one thousand nafl rakaats, and in each rakaat, recite Surah Ikhlaas one thousand times.” I replied, “But this is indeed an extremely difficult deed to fulfil.” He said, “In that case, recite Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) one thousand times every night.” Abul Hasan further says, “This has been my routine since then.” (Al Qowl-ul-Badee’ pg. 259)

Hazrat Anas bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “When two muslims who love one another (for the sake of Allah Ta‘ala) meet each other and send durood (salutations) upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), then before they depart from one another, their future and past (minor) sins are forgiven.”

The Mahr of Hazrat Aadam (‘alaihis salaam)

Sheikh Abdul Haq Dehlawi (rahimahullah) writes in “Madaarijun Nubuwwah” that when Hazrat Hawwaa (radhiyallahu ‘anha) was created, Hazrat Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) wanted to stretch forth his hands towards her. The angels then said, “Be patient until the nikaah is performed and you give her the mahr.” Hazrat Aadam (‘alaihis salaam) then inquired, “What is the mahr?” The angels replied, “The recitation of Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).” (According to another report, the mahr was twenty Durood upon Rasulullah sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam.) Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports: “When you recite Durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), then recite Durood in the best of manners (complete devotion, concentration, love and respect), for certainly you do not know perhaps that Durood of yours will be presented before him.” The students of Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radhiallahu Anhu) asked: “Teach us how to recite Durood on Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).” Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radhiallahu Anhu) replied: “Recite the following:

O Allah, elevate him to the highest of positions, and make him worthy of the position of Maqaam Mahmood, in such a way that the former and the latter of the entire creation will all envy him.

O Allah, shower Your mercy upon Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and the family of Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), as You showered Your mercy upon Hadhrat Ebrahim (Alaihis Salaam) and the family of Hadhrat Ebrahim (Alaihis Salaam). Indeed You are praiseworthy and most glorious.

The Durood of Shibli after Every Salaah

Allamah Sakhaawi (Rahmatullahi Alayh) reports from Abu Bakr bin Muhammad (Rahmatullahi Alayh): “While I was once in the presence of Shaikh Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) and it so happened that Shaikh Shibli (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) arrived. Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) rose from his seat, stepped forward, embraced the saint and kissed his forehead in honour. I asked him: “How is it that you bestow such honour on Shaikh Shibli (Rahatullahi Alayhi) when you and all the Ulama of Baghdad are of the opinion that he is a mad man?” Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) replied: “I have only done that which I saw Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) do to him.”

He then related the following dream: “I had seen Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in a dream and Shaikh Shibli appeared. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) rose and kissed him on his forehead. When I asked the reason for this great honour, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) replied: “After every salaah, this man used to recite the following verse:

 لَقَد جاءَكُم رَسولٌ مِن أَنفُسِكُم عَزيزٌ عَلَيهِ ما عَنِتُّم حَريصٌ عَلَيكُم بِالمُؤمِنينَ رَءوفٌ رَحيمٌ ﴿١٢٨﴾

Verily the Messenger has come to you from among yourselves, it greatly causes him pain that you fall into distress and hardship, who is extremely anxious for your welfare, for the believers he is full of compassion and mercy.

He thereafter would recite the following durood:

صلى الله عليك با محمد صلى الله عليك يا محمد صلى الله عليك يا محمد

Abu Bakr (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) continues: “After having seen this dream, I met Shibly (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) and asked him, “What durood do you recite upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) after salaah?” The reply he gave was exactly the same as I had seen in my dream” (Fazaail Durood)

Hazrat Abu Umaamah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Recite abundant Durood upon me every Jumuah, for certainly the Durood of my Ummah are presented before me every Jumuah. The one who recites the most Durood upon me will be the closest to me (on the day of Qiyaamah).”

Durood is a source of mercy for both the living and the dead

In Raudhul Faa’ik the following story is related. there was once a woman who had a very evil son. In spite of the fact that she admonished him on numerous occasions, he paid no attention to her advice and never heeded her warnings. In this state without repenting for his evil, he passed away. His mother felt great sorrow and suffered much grief that he died without having repented. She therefore had a great wish to be able to see him in a dream. When she did see him in a dream, she was even more distressed to see him suffering great punishment.

After some time, it so happened that she had seen him in a dream again. However, on this occasion she had seen him in great ease and comfort and extremely happy. She asked him the reason for the change in his condition. He replied: “A great sinner passed our graveyard. When he saw our graves he was greatly affected and took heed that he should change his life and become obedient to Allah Ta’ala before it is too late. He started to cry bitterly over his past sins and from a sincere heart, repented for his deeds. He then recited some verses of the Quran Majeed and twenty times recited durood on Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and conveyed the rewards thereof to the inmates of the graves. I was one of the recipients and the portion that came to me had such an effect that it lifted me from my previous condition to what you now see. O mother, durood on Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is the light of the hearts, a means of forgiveness of sins, and a source of mercy for both the living and the dead. (Fazaail Durood)

Hadhrat ibn Umar (Radhiallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Beautify your gatherings by reciting durood upon me. Verily your durood upon me will be a source of light for you on the day of Qiyaamah.

Glad Tidings for Durood Recited

Hazrat Muhammad bin Maalik (rahimahullah) says:

I travelled to Baghdaad in order to study under Qaari Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (rahimahullah). While we were seated in a circle around him and reciting, an old man entered with a very old turban on his head, wearing an old tattered shirt and a very old shawl over his shoulders. When Qaari Abu Bakr (rahimahullah) saw him enter, he stood up in honour and respect. He rose from his seat, seated the old man in his place and enquired about his health and the welfare of his family.

The old man replied, “Last night, a son was born to me, and my wife asked me for butter and honey.” After hearing what hard times the old man was passing through in poverty, the Shaikh became very sad, and in this state, his eyes closed and he saw Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in a dream.

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “O Abu Bakr! Why this sadness and sorrow? Go to the wazeer, Ali bin Isa, and convey to him my salaams, and say to him, ‘You are a man who never sleeps on Friday nights until you have recited one thousand Durood, but this Friday, you only recited seven hundred Durood because the messenger of the king interrupted your recitation as he came to call you to the king’s presence. You went there, and upon returning, you completed the rest of your Durood. Having told him that, tell him to give a hundred dinaars (gold coins) to the father of the newly born child for his necessities.’”

Qaari Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (rahimahullah) rose immediately and took the old man with him to the wazeer. Arriving there, he said, “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has sent this old man to you.” When the wazeer heard this, he rose from his seat and made the old man sit there. Qaari Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (rahimahullah) then related to him the entire incident.

The wazeer became extremely happy and full of joy. He commanded his slave to bring the money bag, and from the bag, he handed over one hundred dinaars to the old man. He took another hundred dinaars to give Qaari Abu Bakr bin Mujaahid (rahimahullah), but he refused to accept it. The wazeer insisted saying, “Do take it because of the glad tidings that you have brought me. This was a practice between Allah Ta’ala and myself about which you have brought me good news. No one else knew about it. Here, take another hundred. This is for the good news you have brought me. You have made me happy to know that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) is aware of my Durood recited upon him. Take another hundred for the trouble you underwent to come here.”

In this manner, he took out one hundred after another, till an entire thousand had been given. However, Qaari Abu Bakr Mujaahid (rahimahullah) refused to take any of it saying, “Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) commanded us to take only one hundred dinaars, thus we shall not take anything more than that.” (Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 340)

Reciting Durood before Sleeping

Muhammad bin Saeed bin Mutrif (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) was an extremely pious person. He relates: “I made it an obligation upon myself to recite a fixed number of Durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) when I lie down at night before going to sleep. One evening I slept on the upper storey of my house, after completing my set amount of Durood, I fell off to sleep and saw Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in a dream. He entered my home through the door of the upper storey and with his blessed presence the entire room became illuminated. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) approached me and said: “Stretch forward those lips with which you recited so much durood upon me, so that I may kiss them.” In modesty I could not offer my lips to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and therefore I turned my face. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) then kissed me on my cheek. I was greatly excited and immediately woke up in this excitement. My wife who lay near me also woke up. We found the whole room filled with the most fragrant smell of musk. For eight days thereafter this fragrant smell of musk spread forth from my cheeks.”

Earning the Reward of Freeing Ten Slaves https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=5899 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=5899#respond Thu, 09 Jan 2014 04:15:32 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=5899

Hazrat Baraa bin Aazib (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites Durood upon me once, then in lieu of the Durood, Allah Ta‘ala will record for him ten good deeds, He will erase from him ten sins, He will raise him by ten stages, and the Durood will be a means of him earning the reward of setting free ten slaves.”

Durood Recited as Esaal-e-Thawaab

Once a woman came to Hasan Basri (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) and said to him, “O Imam, my daughter has passed away and I desire to see her in a dream. (Is there any way for me to see her.)” Hasan Basri told her, “After completing your Esha salaah, perform four rakaats of nafl salaah. Recite in each of the rakaats Surah Faatiha and Surah Takaathur. Thereafter, as you lie down, continue reciting durood on Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) until sleep overtakes you.”

The woman did as she was advised and that very night she saw her daughter in a dream. She saw her undergoing torture on account of the sins she committed. She was covered in tar, her hands were bound, and her feet were tied in hot, burning chains of fire. The woman was greatly distressed and saddened to see her daughter in this condition. When she awoke the next morning, she hastened to Hasan Basri, and in great distress told him what she had seen. He told her, “Give charity on her behalf. Perhaps Allah Ta’ala will pardon her through your sadaqah.”

The following day, Hasan Basri (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) saw the girl in a dream. He saw her in a beautiful garden while she was seated on a throne with a crown of honour on her head. He asked her, “Who are you?” She replied saying, “O Hasan, do you not recognize me?” He replied in the negative. She then said, “I am the daughter of the woman who spoke to you.” Hasan Basri replied, “How is it that I see you in ease and comfort whereas your mother told me of your pitiful condition. The girl replied, “All that my mother had told you was true. Certainly that was my previous condition and like me there were seventy thousand people undergoing the same torment. However we all were forgiven by Allah Ta’ala on account of the durood of a saintly man. The saintly man, while passing by our graveyard, recited durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) once and conveyed the reward of the durood to the inmates of the graves. That durood was so beloved and appreciated by Allah Ta’ala that He emancipated us from the torment and punishment of the grave. It is through the blessings of that saintly man’s durood that you find me in this condition.” (Fazaail Durood)

Failing to Write Durood upon Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

Hazrat Hasan bin Moosa Al-Hadrami (rahimahullah), who is well known as Ibnu Ujainah (rahimahullah), relates:

I used to write Ahaadith, and in my haste, I used to forget to write Salaat on Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) at the places where the name of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) appeared. When I awoke, I felt greatly distressed and filled with anguish, and there and then I made a resolution that in future, whenever I write down any Hadith, I shall certainly write “(sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)”. (Al-Qurbah Pg. 124, Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 492)

Taking Precaution in Writing Durood

Hazrat Abu Sulaimaan, Muhammad bin Husain (rahimahullah), says:

Amongst my neighbours, there was a man by the name of Fadhl who would engross himself in performing nafl salaah and observing nafl fasts.

He once mentioned to me, “I used to copy the Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), but was never in the habit of writing the Durood after the name of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then appeared in a dream and told me, ‘Why is it that you fail to recite Durood upon me whenever my name is spoken or written?’”

Fadhl then took great precaution in reciting Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) whenever the name of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was mentioned. A few days later, he saw Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) again in a vision and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) told him, “Continue reciting Durood upon me whenever my name is mentioned for verily your Durood reaches me.” (Al-Targheeb Wat-Tarheeb Liqiwaamis Sunnah 2/328, Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 487)

The Name of Hazrat Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in the Taurah

Allaamah Sakhaawi (rahimahullah) relates:

There was once an evil person from amongst the Bani Israa’eel. When he passed away, the people did not afford him any respect and merely left his body on the ground. Allah Ta’ala then revealed to Moosa (‘alaihis salaam), “O Moosa, wash him and perform his janaazah, for I have forgiven his sins and pardoned him.”

Moosa (‘alaihis salaam) asked, “O Allah Ta’ala, what is the reason for this?” Allah Ta’ala replied, “Once, his sight fell on the name of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in the Taurah and he recited Durood upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). On account of this action, I have forgiven him.”  (Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 260)

Reciting a Fixed Amount of Durood Before Retiring to Sleep

Shaikh ibn Hajar Makki (Rahmatullahi alaihi) relates an incident about a saintly person who committed himself to reciting a fixed number of durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) before retiring to bed. One night he had seen Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in a dream. Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) entered his home and the entire home became illuminated with the noor of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said to me, “Bring forth towards me that mouth that recites durood upon me and allow me to kiss it.” Out of shyness, he offered his cheek and Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) kissed it. Upon awakening, he found that his entire home fragrant with the smell of musk. (Fazaail Durood)

Reward for Writing ‘Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam’

Hasan bin Muhammad (rahimahullah) says:

I once saw Imaam Ahmad ibn Hambal (rahimahullah) in a dream. He said to me, “O Ali, if you could only witness and see our Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) which we have written in the books of Hadith, how the Durood (and it’s great rewards) now shines before us.” (Ad-Durrul-Mandood pg. 256, Al-Qawlul Badee’ pg. 486)

Note: When writing the name of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), then one should write the complete (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in Arabic or ‘sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam’ in English. One should not suffice upon the abbreviations such as ‘SAW’ or PBUH etc. as this is not in keeping with the demands of respect that should be shown to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

Hadhrat Anas (Radhiallahu Anhu)reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever recites durood upon me once, Allah Ta’ala will send ten mercies upon him, ten sins of his will be forgiven and his rank in Paradise will be raised by ten stages.

Abundant Durood Brings the Forgiveness of Allah Ta’ala

Shaikh Ibnu Hajar Makki (rahimahullah) reports that a saintly person was once seen in a dream after his demise. He was questioned regarding his condition in the Hereafter. The saintly person replied, “Allah Ta’ala had mercy upon me, pardoned my sins and admitted me into Paradise.” When asked the reason for this he replied, “The angels were commanded to count my sins and the number of Durood I had recited upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). When it was seen that the number of my Durood exceeded the number of my sins, Allah Ta’ala addressed the angels and said, ‘This is sufficient (for his forgiveness). Let no further reckoning take place. Usher him into Paradise.’” (Al-Durrul Mandhood pg. 183)

Abundant Durood will be a Noor (Light) on the day of Qiyaamah

Allamah Sakhaawi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) reports a hadith wherein ibn Umar (Radhiallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Adorn your gatherings with the recitation of abundant durood upon me, because on the day of Qiyaamah the durood shall be a noor (a means of light) for you.

From ‘Qootul Quloob’ Allamah Sakhaawi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) quotes that ‘abundant durood’ mentioned in the above hadith, refers to reciting durood at least three hundred times daily. Hadhrat Moulana Gangohi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) also instructed his followers to recite durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) three hundred times daily. (Fazaail Durood)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The person who will be closest to me (and most deserving of my intercession) on the day of Qiyaamah will be the one who used to recite the most Durood upon me in the world.”

Fragrant Smell Due to Abundant Durood

The son-in-law of Moulana Faizul Hasan Saharanpuri (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) once mentioned to Hadhrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) that upon the demise of Moulana Faizul Hasan (Rahmatullahi Alaihi), a fragrant, sweet smell used to spread forth from his room. This continued for an entire month after his demise. When he related this condition to Moulana Qaasim Naanotwi (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) he remarked, “This is the blessing of the durood he used to recite upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Moulana Faizul Hasan Saheb (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) had accustomed himself during his lifetime to recite abundant durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), particularly on a Friday night (i.e. the night preceding Friday). (Fazaail-e-Durood)

The Distinguishing Feature of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah

Hadhrat Zainul Aabideen Husain bin Ali (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) once said, “The salient feature of those affiliated to the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa’ah is the recitation of abundant durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). (Al-Qawlul Badee’)

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whomsoever recites durood on me once, on him Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings.

The Author of Dalaailul Khairaat

It is mentioned regarding the author of Dalaailul Khairaat that he once set out on a journey. During the journey he required water to perform wudhu. Subsequently he came across a well but  due to not having a bucket and rope he could not draw out the water from the well. Out of concern for his salaah, he became extremely worried. While in this state, a young girl (who was not yet baaligh) saw him and came to him. She asked him what was the matter and he explained to her the problem. She immediately spat into the well whereupon the water rose to the top of the well by itself. Witnessing this miracle performed by the young girl, he was overcome by surprise and thus asked the girl, “How did you perform this miracle?” The girl replied, “This was through the blessings of the Durood which I have recited upon Hadhrat Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).” It was this miracle that motivated him to write the book Dalaailul Khairaat. (Fazaail-e-Durood).

Allamah Zardaq (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) reports that upon the demise of the author of Dalaailul Khairaat, the fragrant smell of musk and amber used to spread forth from the grave. This was due to the blessings of the durood. (Fazaail-e-Durood)

Remaining in the Company of Those who Recite Durood

Rasheed Al-Ataar (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) mentions: “There was a pious sheikh living with us in Egypt by the name of Abu Saeed Al-Khayyaath. He kept to himself and was hardly seen associating with the people or attending any gatherings.  After some while, he began frequenting the gathering of ibn Rasheeq (Rahmatullahi Alaihi). The people were surprised and enquired from him the reason for him attending the gathering of ibn Rasheeq (Rahmatullahi Alaihi). The sheikh replied, “I had seen Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) in the dream and he advised me to frequent the gathering of ibn Rasheeq (Rahmatullahi Alaihi). Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Attend the gathering of ibn Rasheeq (Rahmatullahi Alaihi), for indeed he recites abundant durood upon me (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).”     (Al-Qawlul Badee’)

Hazrat Anas (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “The one who recites durood upon me a thousand times on the day of Friday, will not pass away until he is shown his abode in Paradise.”

Benefit of Reciting One Thousand Durood on Friday

Hazrat Abu Abdir Rahmaan Al-Muqri (rahimahullah) relates that Khallaad bin Katheer (rahimahullah) was in the throes of death. Under his pillow, a piece of paper was found wherein it was written:

هٰذِهِ بَرَاءَةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ لِخَلَّادِ بْنِ كَثِيْرٍ

This is a certificate of freedom from the fire of Jahannum for Khallaad bin Katheer

The people then enquired from his wife as to the reason for him receiving this good fortune. She replied that it was his practice to recite the following Durood one thousand times every Friday:

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ

O Allah, shower your choicest Durood on Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) the unlettered Nabi. (Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 401)

Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Reciting Durood upon me will be a light on the Bridge (Pul-Siraat). And whoever recites durood upon me eighty times on Friday, eighty years of his sins are forgiven.”

In Al Qawlul Badee’, Imaam Sakhaawi (Rahimahullah) has narrated this Hadith from numerous sources, but the Ulama of Hadith have declared them to be weak. The author of Ithaf (a commentary of Ihya-uloomid-Deen) has also narrated this Hadith from various sources. However, despite these sources being considered weak, it is a principle of the Hadith scholars that a weak narration, when reported from several authorities from many sources, is considered suitable to use when pertaining to virtues. It is most probably for this reason that this Hadith of Hadhrat Abu Hurayra (Radhiyallahu Anhu) has been declared as sound (hasan) in Al-Jaami-us-Sagheer.

Mulla Ali Qaari (Rahimahullah) mentions in Sharh Shifaa that this Hadith has also been narrated by Tabraani and Daaraqutni, both of whom give Jaami-us-Sagheer as their sources.

Another Hadith is reported by Daaraqutni that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “Whoever recites durood upon me eighty times on Friday, eighty years of his sins will be forgiven.” One of the Sahaabah (Radhiyallahu Anhum) asked, “O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), how should the durood be recited?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied:

O Allah, shower your choicest durood and peace on Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), Your slave, Your Nabi, Your messenger, the unlettered Nabi

And having said this he closed one finger.

The meaning of closing the finger is that he should count on his fingers. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) often encouraged counting on the fingers because on the day of Qiyaamah those same fingers will bear witness at the time when they shall be questioned. We commit numerous sins with our hands daily and on the day of Qiyaamah those same hands shall bear witness against us with regard to the sins we have committed. So why should we not do or count some righteous deeds like durood upon Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) with our hands so that they can at least bear witness on our behalf.

Haafiz Iraaqi has called this Hadith “Hasan”.

Another Hadith is quoted by Hadhrat Ali (Radhiyallahu Anhu), where he reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Whoever recites durood upon me one hundred times on Friday will be accompanied by such light on the Day of Qiyaamah that if it should be distributed among mankind, it would suffice all of them.”

Allama Sakhawi (Rahimahulah) mentions another Hadith reported by Hadhrat Anas (Radhiyallahu Anhu) that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Whoever recites durood upon me once that is accepted (by Allah Ta’ala), eighty years of his sins are forgiven.” (Fazaail Durood)

Writing Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam in Full

Ubaydullaah bin Umar Qawaareeri (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) says, “I had a close companion who was a writer by profession. After his demise I had once seen him in a dream and enquired from him as to how Allah Ta’ala had dealt with him. He replied that Allah Ta’ala had forgiven him. I asked him the reason. He said, ‘It was my habit during my lifetime that whenever I wrote the blessed name of Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), I always wrote ‘Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam’ after the mubaarak name. Allah Ta’ala loved this action so much, that He had granted me bounties that no eye has ever seen, nor no ear has ever heard and neither did the thought of such boons and bounties ever cross the mind of any person.’”  (Fazaail Durood)

The Durood for Safety

Musa Zareer (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) was one of the great saintly personalities. He once related an incident regarding his personal experience. He says, “I was once travelling on a boat which was about to sink. At that crucial moment  I was overcome with slumber. In a vision I had seen Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), who taught me the following durood and instructed me to tell all the passengers of that boat to recite the durood one thousand times. The passengers began reciting the durood and had not yet reached three hundred times when the condition normalised and the boat was saved. This was all through the barkat of the durood that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had taught.”

O Allah, bestow Your mercy upon Sayyidana Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), such mercy that will save us from all calamites and misfortunes, and that will be a means of fulfilling all our needs and requirements, and that will cleanse us from all evil and sin, and that will raise us to high, lofty positions (in the hereafter), and that will cause us to reach all our desired righteous aims and goals, in this world and the next. Certainly You have power over everything.

Longing for the Companionship of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

Once a Sahaabi came to Rasulullah [Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and said:

“O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), you are dearer to me than my life, my wealth and my family. While I am within the confines of my home, I begin to think of you and become restless. My restlessness does not end until my sight falls upon you. O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), death is inevitable. After death, you will be in a high, exalted position as you are a Nabi and Rasul of Allah Ta’ala, whilst I will be distant from you. O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), perhaps I may not be blessed with the honour of seeing you. Whenever I think of this separation between us which will be caused through death, I become extremely saddened and grieved.”

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) observed silence over this until Hadhrat Jibra'eel (Alayhis Salaam) descended with the following verse of the Qur’an:

"Whosoever obeys Allah Ta’ala and the Messenger (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), then they will be amongst those whom Allah Ta’ala has favoured from the Messengers, the Siddeeqeen, the Martyrs and the righteous. They are the best of company. Such is the bounty of Allah Ta’ala, and Allah Ta’ala is sufficient as being the All-knower.

An Ansari Woman's Anxiety about Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

In the battle of Uhud, the Muslims suffered heavy losses and quite a large number of them were killed. When the news of their heavy casualties reached Madinah Munawwarah, the women came out of their homes eager to know the details of the war.

On seeing the large crowd of people gathered at a certain place, a woman of the Ansar anxiously inquired: “How is Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)?” When told that her father was killed in the battle, she uttered ‘Inna Lillahi Wainna ilaihi raaji’oon’ and impatiently repeated the same question about Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). This time she was told that her husband was no more, her brother was dead and that her son too was slain. With ever-growing anxiety, she repeated the same question about the welfare of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). She was told that he was safe and sound, but she would not rest contented, and insisted on seeing him herself. When at last she had satisfied her eyes with his sight, she said:

كُلُّ مُصِيبَةٍ بَعْدَكَ جَلَلٌ

"O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), with the blessing of seeing you every affliction is eased and every worry is removed." (Hayatus Sahaabah, Fazaail Aa'maal)

The Durood which is placed upon the Scale of Full Measure https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=3910 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=3910#respond Thu, 17 Jan 2013 15:27:48 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=3910 Madina Munawwarahعَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ  رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُكْتَالَ بِالْمِكْيَالِ الأَوْفَى إِذَا صَلَّى عَلَيْنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ فَلْيَقُل اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِىِّ الأُمِّيِّ  وَأَزْوَاجِهِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ (رواه ابو داود رقم 984)

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The one who wishes that his durood be weighed on the scale that weighs in full (thereby receiving full reward for the durood) when he recites durood upon us, the Ahl-ul-Bayt, then he should recite the following durood:

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِىِّ الأُمِّيِّ  وَأَزْوَاجِهِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

O Allah! Send salutations upon Nabi Muhammed (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), the unlettered Nabi, his wives, the Mothers of the Believers, his progeny and his household, as You sent salutations upon Nabi Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam), indeed You are most worthy of praise, most exalted.

Conveying Durood on behalf of someone at the Grave of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

Hadhrat Umar ibn Abdul Aziz (Rahmatullahi Alaihi) was an illustrious Taabi’ee and a pious and just ruler of Islam. He used to reside in Syria (Damascus was the capital of the Umayyad empire). Such was his love for Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) that he used to dispatch a messenger from Syria to cross over the desert and go to Madina Munawwarah, with the sole purpose of conveying durood on his behalf at the grave of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

Giving up Sins through the Duaa of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

Ja’far As-Saa-igh (rahimahullah) narrates the following:

Among the neighbours of Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal (rahimahullah) was a man who was involved in many sins, evils and shameless deeds. One day, this man came to the gathering of Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal (rahimahullah) and greeted him with salaam. However, although Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullah) replied to his salaam, he did not show him attention and receive him with warmth. Rather, he seemed uncomfortable in the presence of this man (as this man was well known to have evil ways and sinful habits).

The man immediately perceived the discomfort of Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullah) and thus said, “O Abu ‘Abdillah (rahimahullah)! Why are you uncomfortable in my presence? On account of a dream that I saw, I have completely changed and I am no longer the person that you knew me to be.” Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullah) asked, “What dream did you see?”

The man replied, “I saw Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in my dream. It seemed as though he was on an elevated area while many people were seated below him. One by one, the people stood and asked Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to make du‘aa for them. As they stood and made their request, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) made du‘aa for them, until only I remained. I also wanted to stand and ask Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to make du‘aa for me, but I felt embarrassed and ashamed to do so on account of my evil actions and ways. Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) then addressed me and asked, “O so-and-so! Why do you not stand and ask me to make du‘aa for you?” I replied, “O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! It is my shame and embarrassment of my evil deeds that prevents me from doing so.” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) responded, “If it is shame and embarrassment that prevents you, then stand and ask me for du‘aa. I will still make du‘aa for you, as you do not speak ill of my Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum).” I thus stood and Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) made du‘aa for me. When I thereafter awoke, I found that Allah Ta‘ala had instilled within me complete hatred and disgust for all the sins that I was involved in.”

When Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullah) heard this incident, he addressed us saying, “O Ja’far! O so-and-so! Tell people of this incident and do not forget it, as it is beneficial and inspiring.”

The Virtues and Blessings of Reciting Durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=3759 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=3759#respond Thu, 27 Dec 2012 04:24:56 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=3759 Dome

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala. May the choicest durood (salutations) and salaam (peace) descend upon the noblest of Ambiyaa and Rasuls, our master and leader, Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and upon his blessed household and all his illustrious companions.

It is the belief of every believer that those who enjoy the highest rank after Allah Ta’ala are the Ambiyaa (may Allah Ta’ala’s choicest blessings rain upon them), and from among the galaxy of Ambiyaa, the highest in rank and status is Hazrat Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Not only was Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) sent to this ummah as the final messenger of Allah Ta’ala and the seal of prophethood, but he was also the leader of all the Ambiyaa and Rasuls of the past.

Allah Ta’ala’s love for Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) can be easily gauged from the style and manner in which Allah Ta’ala has addressed him in many places of the Holy Qur’an. The honour conferred to Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) by Allah Ta’ala on the occasion of Me’raj was an honour not enjoyed by any other Messenger of the past. Furthermore, when Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) will be ushered into the court of Allah Ta’ala on the day of Qiyaamah to the esteemed pedestal of maqaam mahmood so that he may intercede for the entire humanity, his distinct position will be envied by all the Ambiyaa and Rasuls and their nations.

The blessings and virtues of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) are so immense and incredible that it is impossible for anyone to enumerate them all.

Undoubtedly, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is the greatest of Allah Ta’ala’s creation. It is the greatest honour for every ummati of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) to be linked to him, the Imaam of all the Ambiyaa of Allah Ta’ala.  Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) is the source of hidaayat (guidance) for humanity at large, for it was none other than Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) who had shown us the path of guidance, through which we can earn success in this world and eternal bliss and salvation in the Hereafter. The ability of worshipping and recognizing Allah Ta’ala correctly, and simultaneously fulfilling the rights of fellow humans, also depends entirely upon emulating the teachings of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).

Furthermore, when we study the mubaarak life of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), we realize that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) possessed intense love for not only his family and Sahaabah, but for every ummati till the day of Qiyaamah. The perpetual concern and overwhelming anxiety that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) had for every ummati is inconceivable and unimaginable.

A person will generally honor and show importance to people according the favors that he enjoys from them. Hence, one will show utmost respect and honor to his parents, as they were the means through which he entered the world. Similarly, one will honor his Ustaad, as his ustaad was the means for him learning Deen. However, the absolute greatest favor and privilege that every ummati enjoys is that of Deen, and it was Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) who was the means of Deen reaching us. Therefore, he should be shown the greatest love and obedience from all Allah Ta’ala’s creation.

Among the rights that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) possesses over us is that we obey him in all that he has commanded, we lead a life in total conformity to his mubaarak Sunnah, and we continuously recite durood and salaam upon him, as we are instructed by Allah Ta’ala in the Holy Qur’an:

إِنَّ اللَّـهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا

Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). O you who believe! Send durood and salaam upon him.

Each ummati has the greatest love of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) within his heart, however due to worldly involvement, he forgets to take out time to recite durood upon Rasulullah (Sallahu Alayhi Wasallm). Hence, this book was prepared with the aim of rekindling the love of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) within our hearts and with the aim of creating the motivation to send Durood upon him and follow his mubaarak sunnah in all facets of our lives.

We make Duaa to Allah Ta’ala that he accept this humble effort and make it a means of us being blessed with the intercession of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) and His mubaarak company in the Hereafter.
