Ihyaaud Deen An Effort to Revive Deen in Totality
After performing the witr salaah, one should recite the following zikr thrice, and when reciting it for the third time, one should pull the word الْقُدُّوسِ slightly:
سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ
Glory be to the Sovereign, the Pure
عن عبد الرحمن بن أبزى أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يوتر بـ (سبح اسم ربك الأعلى) ، و(قل يا أيها الكافرون) ، و(قل هو الله أحد) ويقول في آخر صلاته إذا جلس: سبحان الملك القدوس ،ثلاثا ، يمد بها صوته في الآخرة. (مصنف ابن ابي شيبة رقم 6944)
Hadhrat Abdur Rahmaan ibn Abzah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would recite Surah Aa’laa in the first rakaat, Surah Kaafiroon in the second rakaat and Surah Ikhlaas in the third rakaat of his witr salaah; and upon the completion of his witr salaah, while remaining seated, he would recite the following zikr thrice, and he would pull the word الْقُدُّوسِ when reciting it the third time:
سُبْحَانَ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوسِ
