Sunnats and Aadaab of the Musjid – Part 6

Quba1. Do not force yourself into the front saff if there is insufficient space, thus causing inconvenience to others.

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Busr (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that on one occasion a person entered the Musjid on the day of jumuah while Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) was delivering the khutbah. The man began climbing over the shoulders of people (trying to get to the front saff). Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) (reproached him) saying: “Sit down, for certainly you have caused inconvenience (to the people).”

2. When walking in the musjid, be careful one does not cross in front of someone performing salaah.

Hadhrat Abu Juhaim (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “If the one walking in front of a musalli had only known the severity of his action, for him to wait for forty will be better for him than passing in front of him. Abu Nadhr says, “I do not know whether he said forty days, forty months or forty years.” (In other Ahaadith, mention is made of forty years).

3. Do not perform salaah in such a place in the Musjid that the free movement of the Musallees is impeded e.g. performing salaah at the entrance, thus preventing others from passing.

Hadhrat ibn Umar (Radhiallahu Anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) prohibited performing salaah in seven places; (and from them is) on the pathway.
