Hazrat Halimah Sa’diyyah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) – Part Three

It was now time for the caravan to depart. All the travelers of the caravan mounted their conveyances and set out. Hazrat Halimah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) also mounted her conveyance with this blessed infant. Her thin camel, which would previously be whipped to spur it forward, was now moving with extreme speed and was not slowing or delaying. At that moment in time, it was the conveyance of the blessed Nabi of Allah Ta‘ala. The other women of the caravan asked, “O Halimah! Is this the same camel you came with? By Allah! Its condition is now completely different.” In this manner, we arrived in Banu Sa’d.

At that time, no other region was affected by drought as severely as Banu Sa’d. However, when my goats would return home in the evening, their udders would be filled with milk, whereas the other goats would return hungry without a drop of milk in their udders. On witnessing this, the people urged their shepherds to graze their goats where Hazrat Halimah’s (radhiyallahu ‘anha) goats grazed. Thus, although they complied with this request, Hazrat Halimah’s (radhiyallahu ‘anha) goats would return at the end of the day satiated and with their udders bursting with milk, while the goats of the other people would return hungry and without any milk in their udders. Hazrat Halimah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) says, “Allah Ta‘ala continued to show us His Khair and Barakah (divine goodness and blessings) in this manner while we continued to witness this Khair and Barakah from the side of Allah. Our lives continued like this until I weaned him at the end of two years.”

When two years had passed, Hazrat Halimah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) returned to Makkah Mukarramah to return this child with whom she had been entrusted to his mother, Hazrat Aaminah. However, on account of the divine blessings she had observed due to the presence of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in her home, Hazrat Halimah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) requested Hazrat Aaminah to allow this orphan to remain with her for a few more days. On the one hand, a plague had broken out in Makkah Mukarramah, and on the other hand, Hazrat Halimah’s (radhiyallahu ‘anha) unusual insistence made Hazrat Aaminah agree to the request of Hazrat Halimah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) and allow her to take the child with her. Hazrat Halimah (radhiyallahu ‘anha) thus returned to the Banu Sa’d with this blessed infant. After a few months, he also started accompanying his milk-brothers to the grasslands to graze the goats.
