Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Aas (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reported, “Whoever sends salutations upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) once, Allah Ta‘ala and His angels will send seventy mercies and blessings upon him in return of his one Durood. Hence, whoever wishes to increase his Durood should increase it, and whoever wishes to decrease his Durood should decrease it (i.e. if he wants to earn great rewards, then he should increase his Durood).”

A Means of Earning the Happiness of Allah Ta‘ala

It is mentioned that once, a great Aalim who was also a khalifah of Hazrat Shaikhul Hadith, Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahimahullah), came to Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (rahimahullah) and said to him, “Hazrat! I feel that Allah Ta’ala is displeased with me. Please show me a way that Allah Ta’ala will become pleased with me.”

Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (rahimahullah) replied, “Who am I? I am the lowest servant of Allah Ta’ala! How can I show you a way to mend your relationship with Allah Ta’ala?” The Aalim responded, “Please show me a way! You are well versed in the Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), and Allah Ta’ala has blessed you with great knowledge and taqwa.”

Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (rahimahullah) replied, “From what I understand, if you make the one who is resting in Madinah Munawwarah happy (i.e. you make Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) happy), then Allah Ta’ala will become happy with you.”

The person asked Shaikh Yunus (rahimahullah) to explain further how he would be able to make Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) happy. Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (rahimahullah) explained, “You will need to do two things:

  1. Recite abundant Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).
  2. Make a concerted effort to find the different sunnats of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and practice upon them. Even if there is no need to engage in a certain sunnah action, still practice on the sunnah. For example, you do not have a need to drink water, still intentionally sit down and drink water, so that you will be practicing upon the sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). Insha Allah, through practicing on these two things, Allah Ta’ala will be happy with you.

The reason for this is that Allah Ta’ala has mentioned in the Quraan Majeed:

قُلۡ  اِنۡ کُنۡتُمۡ تُحِبُّوۡنَ اللّٰہَ فَاتَّبِعُوۡنِیۡ یُحۡبِبۡکُمُ اللّٰہُ وَ یَغۡفِرۡ لَکُمۡ ذُنُوۡبَکُمۡ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ غَفُوۡرٌ  رَّحِیۡمٌ ﴿۳۱﴾

“Say (O Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam))! If you possess love for Allah Ta’ala, then follow me (Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)), Allah Ta’ala will love you and forgive your sins.”

One month later, the Aalim came again to Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (rahimahullah) and kissed his hands saying, “Allah Ta’ala is now pleased with me!”

Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (rahimahullah) enquired, “How is it that you now know that Allah Ta’ala is pleased with you, and previously, how did you know that Allah Ta’ala was displeased with you?”

The person replied, “Previously, I would not find the motivation and enthusiasm to perform salaah, and would not find any enjoyment when making zikr. My heart would not be inclined towards zikr and my heart would remain in a state of restlessness. Now that Allah Ta’ala is happy with me, I find the spirit and motivation pulling me towards salaah and I perceive enjoyment when making zikr. Similarly, an extremely great and happy sign which shows that Allah Ta’ala is happy with me is that a few days ago, I had seen Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in a dream, and he said to me, “I am now pleased with you.”[1]

Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that on one occasion, a Sahaabi came to Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and complained of poverty and difficulty in earning a livelihood. Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said to this Sahaabi, “When you enter your home then make Salaam, regardless of whether there is anyone in the home or not. Thereafter, send Salaam upon me and recite Qul-Huwallah (Surah Ikhlaas) once.” The Sahaabi did as instructed by Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), and Allah Ta’ala blessed him with such abundant sustenance that he even began to spend upon his neighbors and relatives.

Saved from Punishment through Reciting Abundant Durood

A man once saw a person in his dream in the most horrific and dreadful form. Upon enquiry from the person as to who he was, the man replied, “I am your evil deeds.” The man then asked, “And how can I be saved from you?” He replied, “By continuously reciting abundant Durood upon Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).”  (Al-Qowlul Badee’ Pg. 260)

Hazrat Abu Qataadah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that a Sahaabi once asked Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), what is the reward of the person who fasts on the day of Aashuraa?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “It carries the reward of fasting for an entire year.” The Sahaabi then asked, “What is the reward of fasting on the day of Arafah?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “It expiates the (minor) sins of the present year and the previous year.”

The Angel that Stands at the Blessed Grave of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) to Convey the Durood of the Ummah https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=19455 Thu, 09 Jun 2022 13:43:33 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=19455

Hazrat Ammaar bin Yaasir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Indeed, Allah Ta‘ala has appointed an angel whom He has given the ability to hear the voices of the entire creation. This angel will remain standing at my blessed grave from the time I pass away. There is no person who will recite Durood upon me once except that this angel will say, “O Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! So-and-so, the son of so-and-so, has recited Durood upon you.” Allah Ta‘ala will then shower ten mercies upon that person in exchange of every Durood that he will recite upon me.”

The Scribe of Durood

Hazrat Shaikhul Hadith, Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahimahullah) mentioned:

A reliable friend of mine informed me regarding a scribe of Lucknow. He would commence his daily work after writing durood on a sheet of paper which he had reserved for this very purpose.

At the time of his death, he was overcome with fear of the Hereafter saying, “What will become of me after I depart this world?” On saying this, a majzoob (saint constantly engaged in the remembrance of Allah Ta‘ala) appeared and said, “Why are you so worried? The sheet of paper (upon which you would write Durood) is with Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and is being adorned.” (Fazaail – e – Durood Pg. 153)

Hazrat Abu Humaid or Abu Usaid (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whenever anyone enters the musjid, he should recite Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and then recite the following dua:

اَللّٰهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِيْ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِك

O Allah Ta’ala, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

And when he leaves the musjid, he should recite the following dua:

اَللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

O Allah, I ask You for Your bounties.

Writing ‘sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam’ in Full

Hazrat Ubaidullaah bin Umar Qawaareeri (rahimahullah) said:

I had a close companion who was a scribe by profession. After his demise, I once saw him in a dream and enquired from him as to how Allah Ta’ala had dealt with him. He replied that Allah Ta’ala had forgiven him.

When I asked him the reason, he said, “It was my habit during my lifetime that whenever I wrote the blessed name of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), I always wrote ‘(sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)’ after the mubaarak name. Allah F loved this action so much that He has granted me bounties which no eye has ever seen, nor has any ear ever heard, and neither did the thought of such boons and bounties ever cross the mind of any person.”

Suhail bin Hanzalah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) once mentioned:

On one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) made mention of Khuraim Asadi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) and said, “He is a good man except for two habits viz. he keeps the hair of his head too long and he allows his izaar (lower garment) to go below his ankles.”

When Khuraim (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) learnt of this, he immediately cut his hair up to his ears and began to keep his izaar up to the middle of the calf of his leg. (Sunan Abi Dawood #4089)

After performing salaah, the person made dua saying, “O Allah Ta‘ala! Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) has mentioned, “When any of you intends to make dua to Allah Ta‘ala, then he should commence his dua by praising and glorifying Allah Ta‘ala with praises that are befitting His majesty and honour. He should then send Durood (salutations) upon Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), and he should thereafter make dua, as (through following this method of making dua,) it is more likely that he will be successful (in his dua being answered).”

The Tree that made Salaam to Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

On Friday, Aadam (‘alaihis salaam), was created, on Friday, he passed away, on Friday, the trumpet will be blown, and on Friday, the creation will fall unconscious, so increase your Durood upon me on the day of Friday as your Durood is presented to me.” The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) enquired, ‘O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! His spontaneous response was, “By Allah Ta’ala, I cannot even bear that I be sitting comfortably with my family while even a thorn is pricking Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).” On hearing this, Abu Sufyaan remarked, “There is no parallel anywhere in the world to the love which the companions of Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) have for him.” (Seerah Ibnu Hishaam 2/172)

Increasing the Recitation of Durood on a Jumuah https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18782 Thu, 09 Dec 2021 14:36:32 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18782

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Increase the recitation of durood upon me on the illuminated night of Jumu‘ah and the radiant day of Jumu‘ah, as your durood is presented to me.”

Longing for the Companionship of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

Once, a Sahaabi (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) came to Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and said, “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), you are dearer to me than my life, my wealth and my family. While I am within the confines of my home, I begin to think of you and become restless. My restlessness does not end until my sight falls upon you. O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), death is inevitable. After death, you will be in a high, exalted position as you are a Nabi and Rasul of Allah Ta‘ala, whilst I will be distant from you. O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), perhaps I may not be blessed with the honour of seeing you. Whenever I think of this separation between us which will be caused through death, I become extremely saddened and grieved.”

Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) observed silence over this until Hazrat Jibreel (‘alaihis salaam) descended with the following verse of the Quraan Majeed:

وَمَن يُطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَاُولٰٓئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ اَنْعَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّـنَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَآءِ وَالصّٰلِحِينَ ۚ  وَحَسُنَ أُولَٰٓئِكَ رَفِيقًا (سورة النساء: ٦٩)

All those who obey Allah Ta‘ala and the Messenger are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah Ta‘ala; the Ambiyaa (‘alaihimus salaam), the Siddeeqeen, the martyrs, and the righteous. (Al-Mu’jamul Awsat #477)

Reciting Durood When Awakening for Tahajjud Salaah https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18739 Thu, 02 Dec 2021 15:19:56 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18739

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) mentioned, “Allah Ta‘ala becomes pleased with two people. The first is the person who encounters the enemy while mounted on the best of horses among his companions. His companions are then defeated while he remains firm and he perseveres. If he is killed then he attains martyrdom, and if he survives then he is the person with whom Allah Ta‘ala is pleased. The second is the person who stands during the night (before Allah  Ta‘ala  to perform tahajjud salaah) without anyone aware of him awakening to perform salaah. He performs a complete and perfect wudhu and thereafter praises Allah Ta‘ala and glorifies Him, and recites Durood upon Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). He then commences the recitation of the Quraan Majeed. This is the person with whom Allah Ta‘ala becomes pleased. Allah Ta‘ala says regarding him, ‘Look at My servant who is standing (in salaah) while nobody is seeing him (perform salaah) besides Me.’”

Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu)’s Deep Love and Memories of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)

One night, Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) was on his security patrol when he saw a light and heard a sound coming from a house. He found an old lady in it spinning wool and singing a few couplets with the following meaning:

عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَاةُ الْأَبْرَارْ ** صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ الْمُصْطَفَوْنَ الْأَخْيَارْ

“May Allah Ta’ala accept the prayers of the pious and the elect, seeking blessings for Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam).

“O messenger of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), you worshipped each night, and you wept before the dawning of each day.

“I wish to know if I could be together with my beloved (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), for death comes in different states (of mind) And I do not know how I shall die.”

On hearing these couplets, Hazrat Umar (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) sat down, weeping in love and memory of Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). (Az-zuhd War-Raqaaiq #1024)

Reciting One Hundred Durood after Fajr and Maghrib https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18709 Thu, 25 Nov 2021 14:48:43 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18709

Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The one who recites one hundred Durood upon me immediately after performing the Fajr Salaah, before speaking, Allah Ta’ala will fulfill one hundred of his needs. Allah Ta’ala will hasten the fulfillment of thirty needs (in this world), and Allah Ta’ala will keep the fulfillment of seventy in store for the Hereafter, and similar will be the case if one recites the Durood after the Maghrib Salaah (i.e. one will receive the same virtue).” The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) enquired, “How should we recite Durood upon you, O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) instructed the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) to recite the following Durood one hundred times:

إِنَّ الله وَمَلئِٰكَتَهُ يُصَلُّوْنَ عَلٰى النِّبِيِّ يٰأَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُوْا صَلُّوْا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوْا تَسْلِيْمًا اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Ayyoob Sakhtiyaani (rahimahullah) in Madinah Tayyibah

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mubaarak (rahimahullah) says:

I heard Imaam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) say, “When Ayyoob Sakhtiyaani (rahimahullah) was in Madinah Tayyibah, I was also present and I watched to see how he was going to present his Salaam to Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam). I saw him facing the grave with his back towards the qiblah. He was standing there without saying a word. Rather, he just cried and cried.” (Khulasatul Wafa 1/428)

Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “There is a group of angels of Allah Ta’ala that continue to roam throughout the earth, searching for the gatherings of zikr (gatherings of the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala). When they find such a gathering, they throng around it. Thereafter, they send the leading angels among them to the sky (to report to Allah Ta’ala). These angels say to Allah Ta’ala, “O our Lord! We have come to a group of Your servants who regard Your favours as a great bounty upon them, recite Your kitaab, send Durood upon Your Nabi (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and they beg You for their needs relating to the Aakhirah and dunya.” Allah Ta’ala replies, “Envelop them in My mercy.” The angels then submit, “O Lord! Among them is so-and-so, who is a great sinner, and he only arrived at the ending of the gathering.” Allah Ta’ala says, “Envelop all the people of this gathering (including him) in My mercy, for the people in this gathering are such that no person who joins them will be unfortunate and deprived of My mercy.”

Hazrat Anas bin Maalik (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The rewards of the good deeds of my Ummah were presented before me, to the extent (that I was shown the reward) of a person picking up a small piece of dirt which was lying in the musjid, and the sins of my Ummah were presented before me, and I did not see any sin greater than the sin of a person who forgot a surah or an aayah of the Quraan Majeed which he was blessed with.”

Note:

1. In this Hadith, the sin of forgetting an aayah or surah of the Quraan Majeed is explained to be the worst of sins. The reason for this is that one is showing ingratitude to Allah Ta‘ala for this great bounty of the Quraan Majeed by neglecting its recitation and thereby forgetting what one had been blessed with.

2. Some Ulama have explained that the admonition explained in this Hadith is for the one who neglects the recitation of the Quraan Majeed and forgets what he had committed to memory.

Other Ulama hold the opinion that this admonition is for the one who neglects the recitation of the Quraan Majeed to the extent that he not only forgets what he had committed to memory, but also forgets how to recite the Quraan Majeed.

The people of the Qur’aan Majeed- The special servants of Allah Ta‘ala https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18013 Wed, 28 Jul 2021 14:34:17 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=18013 وعن أنس رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إن لله أهلين من الناس قالوا من هم يا رسول الله قال أهل القرآن هم أهل الله وخاصته رواه النسائي وابن ماجه والحاكم كلهم عن ابن مهدي حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن بديل عن أبيه عن أنس وقال الحاكم يروى من ثلاثة أوجه عن أنس هذا أجودها قال المملي الحافظ عبد العظيم وهو إسناد صحيح (الترغيب والترهيب، الرقم: 2209)

Hazrat Anas (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Indeed from the people, Allah Ta‘ala has (certain special servants who are) his household.” The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) asked, “Who are those people, O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “They are the people of the Qur’aan Majeed. They are of the household of Allah Ta‘ala and are His special servants.”

Durood being Weighed on the Scale of Full Measure https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=17939 Thu, 01 Jul 2021 12:56:31 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=17939

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “The one who wishes that his Durood be weighed on the scale that weighs in full (thereby receiving full reward for the Durood) when he recites Durood upon us, the Ahlul Bayt, then he should recite the following Durood:

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ وَأَزْوَاجِهِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلٰى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيْدٌ مَجِيْدٌ

O Allah Ta‘ala! Send salutations upon Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), the unlettered Nabi, his wives, the Mothers of the Believers, his progeny and his household, as You sent salutations upon the family of Ebrahim (‘alaihis salaam), indeed You are most worthy of praise, most exalted.

Acquiring Forgiveness through Writing Durood

Hazrat Ibnu Abi Sulaimaan (rahimahullah) mentions:

I saw my father in a dream after his demise. I asked, “How did Allah Ta‘ala deal with you?” He replied, “Allah Ta‘ala forgave me.” I asked, “Due to which deed did He forgive you?” He answered, “I used to write Durood after the name of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) in every Hadith.” (Jilaa-ul-Afhaam Pg. 411)

The Great Virtue of Performing Qurbaani https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=12275 Tue, 08 Jun 2021 13:41:23 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=12275 عن عائشة رضي الله عنها أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ما عمل آدمي من عمل يوم النحر أحب إلى الله من إهراق الدمَ إنه ليأتي يوم القيامة بقرونها وأشعارها وأظلافها وأن الدم ليقع من الله بمكان قبل أن يقع من الأرض فطيبوا بها نفسا (سنن الترمذي، الرقم: 1493)

Hazrat Aaisha (radhiyallahu anha) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “There is no action that a servant carries out during the days of qurbaani which is dearer and more beloved to Allah Ta’ala than the spilling of blood (i.e. the sacrificing of animals). The sacrificed animal shall come on the Day of Qiyaamah with its horns, hair and hooves. The sacrifice is accepted by Allah Ta’ala even before the blood reaches the ground. Therefore, happily carry out the qurbaani (i.e. with your heart being pleased and happy to fulfil the command of Allah Ta’ala.)”

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (radhiyallahu anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) commanded that the knives be sharpened (before slaughtering the animal), and that the slaughtering be concealed from the other animals, and he said, “When you slaughter the animal, then slaughter swiftly (so that the least amount of pain is caused to the animal).”

Forgiveness with the First Drop of Blood https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=12416 Sat, 05 Jun 2021 13:25:53 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=12416 عن علي رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال يا فاطمة قومي فاشهدي أضحيتك فإن لك بأول قطرة تقطر من دمها مغفرة لكل ذنب أما إنه يجاء بلحمها ودمها توضع في ميزانك سبعين ضعفا قال أبو سعيد يا رسول الله هذا لآل محمد خاصة فإنهم أهل لما خصوا به من الخير أو للمسلمين عامة قال لآل محمد خاصة وللمسلمين عامة (رواه أبو القاسم الأصبهاني كما في الترغيب والترهيب، الرقم: 1662)

Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that on one occasion, Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) told Hazrat Faatimah (radhiyallahu anha), “Witness your qurbaani animal being sacrificed. With the first drop of blood that falls, your sins will be forgiven. Its meat and blood will be placed in your scale of good deeds and multiplied seventy times.” Hazrat Abu Sa’eed (radhiyallahu anhu) asked Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), “O Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)! Is this reward exclusively reserved for your family, as they are entitled to special grace or is this reward for all Muslims?” Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) replied, “It has specifically been revealed in regard to my family but it (the virtue and reward) is also for my ummah in general.”

The intercession of one’s fasts and recitation of the Qur’aan Majeed https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=17651 Wed, 02 Jun 2021 14:38:07 +0000 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=17651

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (radhiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “The fast which a person had kept as well and the Qur’aan Majeed which he recited will intercede on behalf of him on the Day of Qiyaamah. The fast will say, ‘O My Rabb! I prevented him from consuming food and fulfilling his desires during the day, so accept my intercession on his behalf.’ The recitation of the Qur’aan Majeed will say, ‘I prevented him from sleep at night so accept my intercession on his behalf.’ Their intercession on his behalf will be accepted by Allah Ta’ala.”

Hazrat Shaddaad bin Aus (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Allah Ta’ala has ordained kindness upon every living creature. When you kill (the enemy in jihaad), then kill in a good manner (i.e. do not mutilate the body etc.), and when you slaughter, then slaughter in a good manner and sharpen your knives and allow the animal to die easily.”

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “The one who possesses the means to carry out the qurbaani yet does not do so (despite it being waajib upon him), then such a person should not come close to our Eid gaah on the day of Eid (i.e. such a person should not celebrate this happy occasion of Eid with the Muslims).”
