Hazrat Abu Qataadah (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that a Sahaabi once asked Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), “O Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam), what is the reward of the person who fasts on the day of Aashuraa?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “It carries the reward of fasting for an entire year.” The Sahaabi then asked, “What is the reward of fasting on the day of Arafah?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “It expiates the (minor) sins of the present year and the previous year.”

Zikr on the Day of Arafah https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=13873 Wed, 07 Aug 2019 13:11:33 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=13873 عن عمرو بن شعيب عن أبيه عن جده قال: كان أكثر دعاء رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم عرفة لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك، وله الحمد بيده الخير، وهو على كل شيء قدير (مسند أحمد، الرقم: 7080)

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam) would recite the following abundantly on the day of Arafah:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الملْكُ وَلَهُ الحَمْدُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْر وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

There is no deity besides Allah Ta’ala alone, who has no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom (of the entire universe), and only for Him belongs all praise. In His hands (control) alone lies all good and He alone has complete power over everything.

The Effective Cure for Depression and Worry https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=12551 Tue, 04 Sep 2018 16:47:05 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=12551 عن عبد الله قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : ما قال عبد قط إذا أصابه هم وحزن : اللهم إني عبدك وابن عبدك ابن أمتك ناصيتي بيدك ماض في حكمك عدل في قضاؤك أسألك بكل اسم هو لك سميت به نفسك أو أنزلته في كتابك أو علمته أحدا من خلقك أو استأثرت به في علم الغيب عندك أن تجعل القرآن ربيع قلبي ونور صدري وجلاء حزني وذهاب همي إلا أذهب الله عز وجل همه وأبدله مكان حزنه فرحا قالوا : يا رسول الله ينبغي لنا أن نتعلم هؤلاء الكلمات قال : أجل ينبغي لمن سمعهن أن يتعلمهن (مسند أحمد رقم 4318)

Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Mas‘ood (radhiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “If any servant of Allah Ta‘ala is afflicted by worry and grief and recites the following du‘aa, Allah Ta‘ala will remove his worry and replace his grief with happiness:

“O Allah, I am Your slave, the son of Your slave, the son of Your slave woman. My forelock is in Your hand and control, Your decree will surely prevail over me, Your judgment in dealing with me is full of justice. I beg of You through the medium of every name of Yours with which You have named Yourself or You have revealed in Your Book or which You taught to any one of Your creation (e.g. any of the Ambiyaa (‘alaihis salaam)) or which You have kept hidden within Your knowledge, that You make the Holy Qur’aan the source of comfort (and happiness) for my heart, and the light of my chest, and the means of removing my grief and sorrow, and the means of removing my worry.”

The Sahaabah (radhiyallahu ‘anhum) then asked, “O Rasul of Allah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam)! Should we learn these words of du‘aa?” Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) replied, “Yes! The one who hears these words of du‘aa should learn them.”

The First to Initiate Killing Unjustly https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=8598 Wed, 04 May 2016 04:55:22 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=8598 عن ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال ليس من نفس تقتل ظلما إلا كان على ابن آدم الأول كفل من دمها لأنه أول من سن القتل  رواه البخاري ومسلم والترمذي (الترغيب والترهيب 1/114)

Hadhrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: “No soul is killed unjustly except that the burden of its killing and spilling the blood will be on the first son of Hadhrat Aadam (Alayhis Salaam), because he was the first to initiate the act of (unjustly) killing (in the world).”

Hadhrat Anas (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that whenever the month of Rajab would arrive, Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) would make the following dua, “O Allah! Bless us in the months of Rajab and Sha’baan and take us forth to the month of Ramadhaan.”

Reciting Tasbeeh-e-Faatimi after every fardh salaah https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2853 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2853#respond Wed, 31 Oct 2012 13:46:11 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2853 On one occasion, the poor Sahaabah (radhiallahu anhum) complained to Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) saying, “O Nabi of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), as far as the wealthy among your Sahaabah are concerned, then they perform salaah and we also perform salaah, they observe nafl fast and we also observe nafl fast, so in that respect we are equal. However, with regards to spending wealth in the path of Allah Ta’ala, since they are endowed with wealth from the side of Allah Ta’ala, they are able to free slaves and generously spend in the path of Allah Ta’ala whilst we are unable to do so. Hence, we are deprived of the great merits and abundant rewards received through giving alms for the cause of Deen.”

Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) then taught them the tasbeeh-e-Faatimi, exhorting them to recite after every fardh salaah, 33 times ‘Subhaanallah’, 33 times ‘Alhamdulillah’ , 34 times ‘Allahu Akbar’ and 10 times ‘Laa ilaaha illallah’ (at the end) . Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) then told them that if you recite this tasbeeh you will surpass those before you, and those after you will not be able to reach your status and position. There will be no one more superior to you except those who also practice upon this.

The poor Sahaabah (radhiallahu anhum) immediately commenced reciting this tasbeeh after the five daily salaah (as per the instruction of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)). When the wealthy Sahaabah (radhiallahu anhum) learnt about this, they also began reciting it. The poor Sahaabah (radhiallahu anhum) returned to Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and complained, “O Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), the wealthy have learnt about this and they also have began reciting this tasbeeh.” (i.e. they are equal to us in this also, with the virtue of charity remaining exclusive to them).

Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) replied, “This is the bounty of Almighty Allah Ta’ala. He grants it to whomsoever He pleases.”

Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “There are no days in the year wherein the worship of Allah Ta’ala is more beloved to Him than the ten days of Dhul Hijjah. The fast during these days (excluding the tenth) is equivalent to the fast of an entire year and standing up in ‘ibaadah during these nights is equivalent to the reward of the night of Qadr (power).

The Virtue of the Ten Days of Dhul Hijja https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2840 https://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2840#respond Fri, 19 Oct 2012 04:38:49 +0000 http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2840 عن ابن عباس عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه قال ما العمل في أيام أفضل منها في هذه قالوا ولا الجهاد قال ولا الجهاد إلا رجل خرج يخاطر بنفسه وماله فلم يرجع بشيء (بخاري 1/132)

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbas (Radhiyallahu Anhuma) reports that Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “There is no virtuous deed carried out in any day of the year that can be equal to the reward of (that  virtuous deed) carried out in these ten days of Dhul Hijja”. The Sahabah asked, “Not even Jihaad?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied, “Not even Jihaad, except for the one who endangers his life and wealth (in Jihaad) and does not return with anything (i.e. the Jihad carried out in the ten days of Dhul Hijja is more virtuous than Jihaad during the rest of the year except for that Mujaahid who gains martyrdom).
